bachelor’s thesis exhibition, scenography 2019/20 at Muthesius university of fine arts and design in Kiel
What moves me’ is a performance of Soffia Heese’s and Danu Rehbein’s interlocking bachelor theses that stages the exploration of the physical perception and experience of space and examines the possibilities of architectural design. The performance was accompanied by a 4-day exhibition in the premises of the Stadtgalerie Kiel.
Using architecture as an example, my work demonstrates a way of combining sensual experiences with the computational qualities of a computer. In the search for a new way to create forms, the movements of the performance are captured by a camera sensor and connected to a computer. Software processes the collected information into three-dimensional structures. These structures can then be materialized using 3D printing. In this way, the ephemeral form of the performance is captured in a solid medium. The process becomes visible during the performance through a live projection of the software.
